DESCRIPTION:Delaware Press Association Annual Meeting & Communications Contest Awards Banquet\nThe 2019  awards banquet will be held at the University & Whist Club\, 805 North Broom Street\, Wilmington\, on Thursday\, May 2. The annual event will honor those who entered the Communications Contests this year – professional communicators and high school journalists alike. Social hour with cash bar and display of award-winning entries begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner\, speaker\, and awards presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. \nFeatured speaker \nVictor Greto\, Associate Professor\, Multimedia Communication & History\, Wesley College\, believes the core of journalism as a vocation and duty has been dissipating in an American society mesmerized by technology and social media. His address will be “It’s Not About You\, But It’s All Up To You: Keeping Power Accountable Through Journalism and Multimedia Communication in the 21st Century.” Greto will talk about “the responsibilities that go with the decision to become a journalist and the need to practice technically efficient\, ethical multimedia communication in 21st-century America.” \nHe says “It’s not about you or your brand\, your social status\, likes\, shares or hits: It’s about your city\, your county\, your state\, your children\, the people you love\, and the country and world in which you are a citizen.
