Press Association to “Rock the Beach”

Wilmington, DE: Delaware Press Association (DPA), an organization for professional communicators, will host a summer event, “Rockin’ the Beach,” featuring lunch at Nage Rehoboth and a talk by former Bad Company bassist Paul Cullen. The event, which is open to the public, will be held August 8th and will include a day of activities in Rehoboth Beach.

Transportation will be available to those coming from northern Delaware. The cost is $30 for
lunch only and $60 for lunch and bus transportation. An early bird discount is available until July 17.

“Rocking the Beach” is DPA’s summer fun event, but is also a great networking opportunity for both members and non-members. The group is a network of more than one hundred journalists, broadcasters, public relations specialists, graphic designers, photojournalists, educators, authors, poets, and freelancers who are dedicated to the highest standards of excellence in communication and to protecting First Amendment freedoms.

The day of fun will include a bus pickup (for those coming from the north) at either the I-95 Service Plaza in Newark or the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover. The bus will take participants first (if time allows) to the Lewes Farmers Market, which was voted the best medium-sized farmers market in the country. From there, participants will be driven to Nage, which was voted best restaurant in downstate Delaware. Guests will mingle before sitting down to a three-course lunch and an entertaining talk by Paul Cullen.

A professional musician for over 30 years, Paul has put down his bass to concentrate on his passion for nylon string guitar and his love of food, particularly Italian cuisine. Using social media and strategic communication strategies, he has built a business called “Tune Your Palate” which combines his love of music with his talent for cooking. Paul will talk about this transition and how social media can be leveraged to build a brand. After the talk, he will play a tune or two as the lunch concludes. Autographed CDs will be available.

The bus will then take participants into Rehoboth Beach, where they can choose to be dropped off near the boardwalk or at the Rehoboth Art League’s Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show, which is one of the best shows of its kind. The afternoon is on your own, with many choices, from Skee-Ball to beach strolls.

The day will conclude with a little more networking (and shopping) at Browseabout Books in downtown Rehoboth, where the bus will pick up passengers at 6:30 for the return to northern Delaware.

Tickets should be purchased by August 1; an early bird discount is available until July 17. For more information, call 302-655-2175 or go to: https://www.signup82north.com/beventLive.aspx.
