The words of the First Amendment, guaranteeing some of our most cherished rights and freedoms, remain unchanged from their adoption 225 years ago. In his talk, “Adapting the First Amendment to the Changing World of Journalism,”  Dean Smolla will examine how – in light of the way journalists report the news at a breathtaking and ever-evolving pace – this stalwart amendment adapts in our use of modern communication channels.

*Sunshine Week is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants include news media, civic groups, libraries, nonprofits, schools and others interested in the public’s right to know.
